Iloilo City made it to the Top 5 as finalist in highly-urbanized city category of Most Business Friendly Local Government Unit (LGU) Award 2015 of Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) in Manila next week.

Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog presented Tuesday the city’s accomplishments and replied to queries of panel of judges.

He stressed the citation is a clear proof of City Government’s efforts to improve service delivery and create conducive business climate to attract investors.

The LGUs’ entries were assessed based on key areas: trade, investment, and tourism promotions; Public-Private Sector Partnership; Micro Small Medium Enterprises development; quality management system, innovations and human resources development; quality customer service; and local government collaborations.

The award is an initiative of PCCI to recognize and promote models of effective governance and highlights LGUs’ ability to institute good governance reforms to promote trade and investment in their localities and ensure accountability, transparency and efficiency in the conduct of their day-to-day operations.

PCCI spearheads the annual search for most business-friendly awards to commend LGUs that have become successful in creating or enhancing an environment conducive to business.

It aims to complement the efforts of government to institutionalize standards in delivering quality services to the people as mandated by Anti-Red Tape Act.

Its slogan “What’s good for the citizenry is good for business” represents a framework for achieving continuous improvement of LGU services to their areas benefiting both business and citizenry.

PCCI is the voice of the country’s business sector working with stakeholders to advocate growth and sustainable development.
