The Office of the City Agriculturist reported a combined gross sales of ₱11,460,517 in 2025 from the city’s Merkado Lokal and USWAG Rolling Store initiatives, underscoring their growing role in strengthening Iloilo City’s agri-based economy.
Merkado Lokal generated a total of ₱6,506,104, with the bulk of revenues coming from its year-round operations at Iloilo City Hall, which accounted for ₱5.77 million. Additional sales were recorded during major events and special runs, including the Dinagyang Festival (₱59,000), Manggahan Festival (₱208,000), Merkado Lokal at Central Philippine University (₱241,000), JBLMF–Arevalo (₱120,000), and JBLMF–Molo (₱104,000).
Meanwhile, the USWAG Rolling Store posted ₱4,954,413 in gross sales from January to November 2025, further contributing to market access for local farmers and producers.
City Agriculturist Iñigo D. Garingalao said the initiatives go beyond sales performance, as they help improve farmers’ livelihoods, promote proper nutrition, and encourage youth entrepreneurship. He added that the programs are aligned with the city government’s governance pillars and support several Sustainable Development Goals, including No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Decent Work and Economic Growth, Reduced Inequalities, Sustainable Cities and Communities, and Responsible Consumption and Production.
