Ayala Foundation strengthens partnership with Iloilo City.

Underlining its commitment to the growth and development of Iloilo City as the gateway to Western Visayas and some parts of Mindanao, Ayala Foundation reaffirmed its partnership with the city and its community members.

Bringing its programs in education and community leadership, Ayala Foundation signed separate agreements with the City of Iloilo and the Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) on September 11.

Ayala Foundation President Ruel Maranan and Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas signed an agreement for the implementation of the CENTEX and Leadership Communities (LeadCom) program in the city.

CENTEX is Ayala Foundation’s flagship education, which considers child development the collaborative work of teachers, parents, community members, and other stakeholders. It focuses on the essentials of lifelong learning—classroom pedagogy, development of critical thinking skills, values clarification, and use of technology in education.

LeadCom is a program that harnesses the youth’s potential for leadership and community service by helping them ideate and implement projects that address community issues.

Also present at the signing were Ayala Foundation Senior Director for Social Development Joanna Duarte, DepEd Iloilo City Schools Division Superintendent Clarissa Zamora, Chair of the Committee on Education Councilor of Iloilo City Sangguniang Panlungsod Lady Julie Grace Baronda, and Iloilo City SK Federation Chair Leila Luntao.

Meanwhile, the agreement with ISAT U cements the partnership for community development efforts in the town of Carles and Sicogon Island. ISAT U Vice President for Research and Extension Dr. Carmelo Ambut and Professor Adrienne Veloso, Director for Community and Extension Services welcomed the Ayala Foundation team.

Leveraging on its strengths on research and extension services as well as community development, ISAT U will assist Ayala Foundation in conducting Participatory Rapid Appraisal (PRA) and Participatory Community Planning (PCP) in both Carles and Sicogon Island.

The university will roll out its newly created Impact Program under Community Research and Extension to deploy a mutidisciplinary paradigm and approach to community development aligned with AFI’s vision for its communities.
