BLOCK-OFF: Treñas announces closure of all Iloilo City establishments on weekends

Mayor Jerry Treñas orders block-off of Iloilo City on weekends.

All establishments in Iloilo City will be closed during Saturdays and Sundays starting this weekend, said Mayor Jerry P. Treñas. This is part of the continuing efforts of the city government to mitigate the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Only hospitals and drug stores will be exempted from the order.

In a press conference on Monday, Treñas said that he will issue an executive order that will impose total block-off on weekends during the enhanced community quarantine which runs until April 30, 2020.

“It was decided by the COVID-19 team that starting this week, Saturdays and Sundays will be totally blocked-off for everyone, except only to buy medicines. We will no longer allow anyone to go out of their houses,” Treñas said.

“It was noticed that everyone is going out of their houses, and we will no longer allow that. We are asking the barangays and those who are holding the checkpoints to make sure that everyone who goes out of his house should have a quarantine pass with him,” Treñas added.

Only medical frontliners are exempted from the implementation of this block-off.

“We have to make sure that we keep Iloilo City safe up to April 30 so that businesses will also open starting May 1,” said Treñas.

Treñas is expected to issue the EO within the day, and we will post it here once available. UPDATE: Executive Order posted below:
