Booking app GrabTaxi comes to Iloilo

The most successful cab booking app is now servicing Ilonggos as GrabTaxi was officially launched in Iloilo City on March 11, 2015.

Taxi operators, drivers and members of the media and blogging community were on hand to attend the launching held at The Venue in Smallville Complex. City Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog also dropped by to welcome GrabTaxi.

“Your presence will complement in serving our visitors as they come to Iloilo City and make public transportation accessible,” Mabilog said.

Iloilo is the fourth city in the country to have this booking app, after Manila, Cebu and Davao.

GrabTaxi was first launched as MyTeksi in Malaysia on June 2012, and is now present in 19 cities in 6 Southeast Asian countries including Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia and Philippines.

The taxi booking app offers safe and hassle-free ride to commuters using the GPS smartphone-based dispatching system that cuts down waiting time of passengers. GrabTaxi mobile app is available to Android, Blackberry and iOS smartphones.

Here’s how to avail of the GrabTaxi booking services:
1. Install and open the GrabTaxi app in your Android, Blackberry and iOS phones. Make sure that your GPS is on and you are connected to the internet. First time users will need to register and activate the service.
2. Book a Taxi by selecting your pick-up and drop off points. You will see in the app the drivers info, estimated cost of ride, etc.
3. You may track your ride via the map on the app and you may share your ride via sms, email or social media so that your family and friends may track you too.

GrabTaxi charges P25 booking fee in Iloilo, but as promo for Ilonggos, they will not charge that fee from March 12 to May 31, 2015.

Also, Iloilo passengers will get P50 discount on the total fare until May 31, 2015 by entering promo code ILOILO on the app. The promo code also entitles the passenger for a chance to win a trip to Boracay for 5!
