CEO completes 24 new classrooms

Iloilo city engineers office has completed atleast 24 new classrooms in different public elementary schools here in time for the school opening in June.

City engineer Bobby Divinagracia reported that the newclassrooms are on top of those being repaired and upgraded with funding takenfrom the Iloilo City School Board Fund.

Completed classrooms funded from the special education fund(SEF) include 4 classrooms costing P1.5 million in the second floor of JudithTiongco Elementary School in Jaro district, 8 classrooms costing P4.8 millionat the groundfloor of the Judith Tiongco Elementary School, 8 classroomscosting P4.7 million at the Mandurriao National High School, 4 classroomscosting P1.5 million at the Hibao-an Elementary School and the P9.2 million ITbuilding of the Iloilo National High Schools from the priority developmentassistance fund (PDAF) of Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago and 4 classrooms atthe Bo. Obrero Elementary School costing P1.5 million.

Divinagracia disclosed that the local school board fund hasa surplus of P52 million to be used for the upgrading of public elementary andhigh schools in the city. By Lydia C. Pendon
