City gov't finds jobs for Iloilo City Community College students

Students of the Iloilo City Community College (ICCC) will not find it hard to find a job after graduation as the City Government will facilitate it for them.

Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog has instructed Maria Mathilde Octavio, officer-in-charge of ICCC to initiate programs that will help students in acquiring jobs after graduation.

“We want the best for our students, so we are doing everything to fill their needs,” the mayor said.
“I am thinking of a unique curriculum suited in this present time to help our graduates find jobs to answer the call of our mayor,” Octavio said.

She wrote businessmen around the metropolis to consider future graduates of ICCC as their employees after they complete their college requirements.

“With this, even if a student doesn’t have his or her college diploma yet, he or she is assured of a decent job,” Octavio added.

Meanwhile, ICCC is scheduled to undergo accreditation from Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for four competency courses, namely tour guiding and travel services for BS Travel Management students; and contact center services and frontline office services for students taking up BS Office Management.

Under TESDA’s competency program, a student is given a certificate of skills competency once he or she passes the examination.

ICCC management is also working for an accreditation from the Association of Local Colleges and Universities for its affiliation.

At present there are 438 students in ICCC after a year of operation: 251 in first year and 187 in second year.

Of the total number of students, 70 of them have scholarship through private individuals, 20 are working students and five are academic scholars.

ICCC was established through an ordinance in June 2012 to cater to less fortunate but deserving students who are graduates of city public high schools.
