DOH confirms 2nd death due to Covid-19

Department of Health (DOH) confirmed Wednesday night the circulating reports regarding the death of a Coronavirus Diseased 2019 (COVID-19) patient in Manila. This is the second death due to the dreaded disease.

In a statement, DOH said that the reported death is a 67-year-old Filipina labelled as PH35 confined at Manila Doctors Hospital in Manila City. She is among those 16 new confirmed cases announced on Wednesday.

DOH is currently gathering and validating information regarding the reported death and vowed to provide further details as soon as it is available.

Earlier today, DOH reported 16 additional positive COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 49. The DOH and deployed surveillance teams are now conducting extensive information-gathering and contact tracing activities on the new cases. DOH will provide further details as soon as the information is available.

DOH also reported that COVID-19 has reached Visayas with first confirmed case in Dumaguete City. The 62-year-old patient labelled as PH39 is now admitted in Silliman University Medical Center (SUMC).

As of today, PH25-PH28, PH30-PH33 are all in stable condition. PH29, a known contact of PH9, is intubated and has underlying cardiovascular and endocrine conditions.
