DOH-6 needs 400 nurses as volunteer vaccinators for anti-measles drive

Department of Health is now looking for registered nurses who will volunteer as vaccinators for the on-going measles outbreak response immunization operations in Iloilo and other provinces in Western Visayas.

The health department is stepping up its anti-measles drive with the help of nurses after the sudden increase of those infected by the disease not only in the region but all over the country.

DOH-Center for Health Development in Region 6 said that based on their data, there are 32 new measles cases recorded in just one day, and there is a total of 1,317 cases since January 1.

Vincent Sumergido, Senior Health Program Officer of DOH-CHD 6, said all the new cases were reported on Thursday with Iloilo province recording the most number at 16.

“This is followed by Aklan with nine, Negros Occidental with three, Capiz with two, and Guimaras with one,” Sumergido said in a press conference at DOH-CHD regional office in this city’s Mandurriao district on Friday.

Thus, DOH-6 will need approximately 400 nurses as additional vaccinators regionwide to intensify the outbreak response. If you are interested, here are more details:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Registered Nurse with valid PRC License
Preferably with Basic EPI Skills Training

AREAS OF DEPLOYMENT: Priority municipalities in Region VI. 50 nurses will be deployed in Aklan, 50 in Antique, 49 in Capiz, 10 in Guimaras, 116 in Iloilo Province, 13 in Iloilo City, 105 in Negros, and 15 in Bacolod City.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Application Letter addressed to the Head of Agency
• 1 set Personal Data Sheet with picture
• Original and Photocopy of PRC ID Card

All interested applicants are requested to personally bring the above-mentioned requirements and attend a meeting cum orientation as per provincial schedule below on March 18, 2019, at Department of Health – Center for Health Development Western Visayas, Conference Hall, scheduled below:

  • ILOILO, ANTIQUE, GUIMARAS – 8:00 AM
  • NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, AKLAN, CAPIZ – 1:00 PM

Priority shall be given to shortlisted and screened applicants for 2019 Human Resources for Health Deployment Programs last November – December 2018 and those who are currently residing in the specified areas of assignment. Applicants who came in after the slots of preferred areas of assignment are filled must be willing to be deployed in other adjacent Local Government Units.

Likewise, applicants who came in once all slots for the province concerned will not be entertained. Applicant evaluation will be in a first come, first served basis.

According to Sumergido, nurses will be deployed from March 19-31 only and will be receiving mobilization allowance and are expected to accelerate vaccination response and reach at least 95% coverage of the whole municipality.
