DOH-6 reports 8 new COVID-19 cases

DOH-6 Covid-19 case updates on May 5, 2020.

Department of Health in Western Visayas reported 8 new cases of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the region, five of them are from Iloilo City.

In a case bulletin no. 40 as of May 5, DOH-6 announced the following new cases: 55-year-old female from Arevalo (WV#73), 30-year-old female from Banga, Aklan (WV#74), 3-year-old girl in Pandan, Antique (WV#75), 3-year-old male from Dingle, Iloilo (WV#76), 30-year-old male from Iloilo City Proper (WV#77).

Patients labeled as WV#74, WV#76, and WV#77 are repatriates who arrived in Iloilo last April 29.

Three more cases came from Arevalo district: 43-year-old female (WV#78), 57-year-old female (WV#79), and 49-year-old female (WV#80).

Mayor Jerry P. Treñas said that the 4 new COVID-19 cases in Arevalo are from Barangay Sto. Niño Sur. The Iloilo City Emergency Responders (ICER) personnel from Arevalo district who tested positive for the deadly disease also came from the said barangay.

Treñas is still waiting for recommendation of Iloilo City COVID-19 Team on what to do with Barangay Sto. Niño Sur.

As of 4 P.M. of May 5, there are already 80 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Western Visayas. DOH-6 also recorded two new recoveries bringing the total to 31. The number of deaths remain at 10.
