DOH-6 records highest single-day COVID-19 cases at 91

DOH Region 6 COVID-19 updates.

Department of Health in Region 6 – Western Visayas reported Sunday that there are 91 new Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases, the highest tally in one day.

In COVID-19 Case Bulletin posted July 12, DOH shared that there are already 552 total confirmed cases, 363 of which are active with 178 recoveries and 11 deaths.

Of the 91 new cases, 69 were locally stranded individuals (LSIs), two were Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), 18 were indigenous cases, and two were Authorized Persons Outside of Residence (APOR).

Indigenous cases are those without travel history in places with COVID-19 infections, not an LSI or OFW.

In Iloilo, 15 of the cases came from Pavia, 10 in Lambunao, 7 each in Cabatuan and San Enrique, 6 each from Bingawan and Duenas, 5 from Zarraga, 4 from New Lucena, 2 each from Leon and Barotac Nuevo, 1 each from Iloilo City, Concepcion, Oton, and Dingle.

According to Dr. Jessie Glenn Alonsabe, regional epidemiologist of DOH-6, most of the LSIs arrived in Iloilo via 2Go vessel on June 26. These new cases are now facility-quarantined.
