DTI, Iloilo City kick off skills training project for 270 beneficiaries

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Iloilo and the Iloilo City Government launched on Monday the conduct of various skills training under the Yaman Pinoy Project of the department’s bottom-up budgeting (BUB) project.


Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog delivers a message during the launching of the Yaman Pinoy Project at the Diamond Jubilee Hall of the Department of Education-Division of Iloilo City on Monday, March 7.

Around 270 beneficiaries from the different city districts here shall undergo training on six categories, namely candle making, rug mat making, food processing, beauty care, therapeutic massage, and flower arrangement.

The training shall likewise enable the recipients to participate in trade fairs.

The launching was highlighted by the signing of the memorandum of agreement (MOA) between the DTI and the ICG represented by DTI Iloilo Provincial Director Engr. Diosdado P. Cadena, Jr. and Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog, respectively.

Under the agreement, the DTI shall assist the ICG in the provision of technical assistance and monitoring and evaluation of the project. The ICG, on the other hand, shall ensure the implementation of the project in accordance with the approved plans and programs of work.

The DTI and the ICG shall conduct evaluation and monitoring on the status of the project.

The Yaman Pinoy Project aims to promote an entrepreneurial mindset among the vulnerable sectors of the city; conduct capacity building, skills training activities, product development, packaging and marketing to beneficiaries; and provide sustainable income generating project to the recipients.
