Duterte’s website uses Iloilo flyover photo in highlighting accomplishments

A website claiming to be officially owned by Davao City mayor and presidential candidate Rodrigo Duterte mistakenly used a photo of a flyover in Iloilo as featured image for the mayor’s accomplishments.

Ilonggo netizens who visited the website (at rduterte.com/mainsite/) quickly noticed that photo was taken not anywhere in Davao City but from General Luna Street, Iloilo City.

The photo (first shared by I am Iloilo Facebook page) shows construction of Jalandoni flyover, a P386.6-million infrastructure project implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) under the President’s Bridge Program during the administration of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

The flyover in intersection of Jalandoni and General Luna streets opened in July 9, 2010.

The screenshot of website with the erroneous post became viral and further fueled online rift between supporters of Davao mayor and of Liberal Party and Ilonggo presidential candidate Mar Roxas.

Recently, Solita “Mareng Winnie” Collas-Monsod also compared the two cities in his Philippine Daily Inquirer column which triggered more debate between two camps.
