Guimaras-bound motorbanca capsizes in Iloilo Strait

Another pump boat bound to Guimaras has capsized while traversing the Iloilo Strait on Tuesday, November 12.

At around 1:40 pm of Tuesday, motorbanca MB Tassel was found submerging just three meters away from Parola Wharf in Iloilo City. The cargo vessel is loaded with 160 sacks of rice which will be delivered to Buenavista Wharf in Guimaras.

Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) head Jeck Conlu said that there are no casualties as the four motorbanca crews were immediately rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard.

The said incident happened hours after the Simulation Exercise (SIMEX) of Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Local Government Unit (LGU), media and other stakeholders.

  1. Thanks for reporting this. Nothing about this latest Iloilo Strait mishap on the Daily Guardian or the Panay News. Guimaras has been my home for over 10 years. I like to read all the news about Guimaras, good or bad.
