Guimaras bags Good Financial Housekeeping Seal

Guimaras gets DILG Good Financial Housekeeping Seal 2019.

The province of Guimaras has once again stamped with the Seal of Good Financial Housekeeping (GFH) after passing the financial transparency standard set by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

The five municipalities of the province (Buenavista, Jordan, Nueva Valencia, San Lorenzo, and Sibunag) also met the GFH standard together with the 1,306 municipalities in the whole country.

The official list was released by the DILG on its website with the latest batch of passers through a memorandum on February 14, 2020.

GFH is one of the assessment areas that LGU must pass to be conferred with the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) and recognizing the LGU’s compliance with accounting and auditing standards, rules and regulations.

Further, GFH is also one of the components being considered to pass the first core area of the SGLG which is the Financial Administration.

The SGLG was launched in 2014 to challenge the LGUs to adhere to good governance practices.

Factors being considered by the LGU to pass the good financial housekeeping are the most recent available unqualified or qualified opinion of Commission on Audit (COA) and compliance with the Full Disclosure Policy (FDP) posted in three conspicuous places and in the FDP Portal.

DILG said that 89 percent of the LGUs in the Philippines passed the GFH that includes 1,522 provinces, cities and municipalities.

Ninety-one percent of the LGUs in Western Visayas that include six provinces, 15 cities, and 106 municipalities got the Good Financial Housekeeping Seal.
