The Provincial Government of Guimaras (PGG) will give one sack of rice per family to mitigate the impact of Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) which will be implemented in the island province starting April 15.

PGG will impose the quarantine to prevent the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the province, which is the only one left with no confirmed case of the dreaded disease in the region.

Governor Samuel T. Gumarin, MD, MPH and Vice Governor Atty. John Edward G. Gando presided the meeting of the COVID-19 Response Executive Committee together with the Local Finance Committee of the province to finalize the assistance that will be given to the municipalities.

It was agreed during the meeting that the PGG will provide one sack of rice per family in the Province of Guimaras.

Gando said over 45,000 families in the province will receive the assistance. They are now downloading the initial 30,000 sacks of rice to municipalities for distribution.

Present during the meeting were the Municipal Mayors, Provincial Accountant Mr. Gregory Teñoso and Executive Assistant III Ms. Llanne Paredes.

UPDATE: The local government unit of Jordan confirmed that sack will be given to each family in the municipality. Those who have received half-sack of rice before the ECQ, will receive the remaining half during the ECQ.
