Igbaras records first case of COVID-19

The Municipality of Igbaras has recorded on Monday, June 1 its first confirmed case of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In COVID-19 Case Bulletin No. 64, Department of Health Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) in Western Visayas reported that the new case in the region came from the southern Iloilo town and labeled as WV#114.

Dr. Jessie Glen Alonsabe of DOH-CHD 6 said that 55-year-old male patient from Igbaras is asymptomatic and in home quarantine. The patient is not a repatriated overseas Filipino worker (OFW); he tested positive when the local government unit conducted COVID-19 testing in their town.

DOH is still verifying his travel history and contact tracing is ongoing in the municipality.

As of Monday, June 1, there are a total of 114 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the region. Of the number, 23 are active cases, 81 have already recovered and 10 have expired.
