Iloilo 1 Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ILECO 1) announced that it will have scheduled brown-outs from July 7 to 17 in some areas under its service.
The electric cooperative explained that the power outages are “due to massive clearing & line maintenance activities to eliminate disturbances in the power distribution system thereby reducing incidents of perennial brown-outs/line tripping.
Ileco 1 serves 15 municipalities in Iloilo, namely, Oton, Tigbauan, Guimbal, Miag-ao, San Joaquin, San Miguel, Alimodian, Igbaras, Tubungan, Leon, Santa Barbara, Pavia, Cabatuan, Maasin, and Leganes.

Governor Arthur Defensor recently called the attention of Ileco 1 and two other electric cooperatives in the province regarding the frequent brownouts.
The general managers of the power distributors blamed vegetation and trees that obstruct power lines for recurring interruption.
