Iloilo City's 10 streets now national roads

Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog gladly welcomed the approval of Congress of bills converting 10 city roads into national roads as filed by Lone District Rep. Jerry P. Treñas.

The 10 bills filed by Treñas were included in the second batch of road conversion bills approved by the House of Representatives for Iloilo City.

“The Department of Public Works and Highways is obligated to maintain and rehabilitate all national roads in the country. Hence, the national government can provide the appropriate funding for these streets after being converted into national roads in order to ensure the proper maintenance of these Iloilo City roads,” Treñas stated.

Mabini St.In City Proper

Iznart to Rizal St.
Fuentes St.
Valeria St.
Gen. Luna to Jalandoni St.
Quezon St.

In Jaro

Arguelles St.
Democracia St.
Cuartero St.

In La Paz

Loboc to La Granja road

Congress earlier approved the conversion of 16 city streets to national roads, namely, Rizal St., Sto. Rosario-Duran, Delgado St., Jalandoni St. in City Proper; San Rafael Road to Tabucan road in Mandurriao; Timawa Avenue and Molo Boulevard in Molo; Jereos St. in La Paz; Cubay road to Balabago road, Tacas road from Quintin Salas, Jaro to Pavia boundary, Rizal St. in Jaro; Loboc road to PPA; Yulo Drive, Arevalo-So-oc Mandurriao road (Gloryville to So-oc), Bonifacio Drive in Arevalo; and the whole stretch from Carpenter’s Bridge to Diversion Road, and from Jalandoni Bridge to Forbes Bridge known as the Efrain B. Treñas Boulevard.

The city mayor said Ilonggos are happy that these roads will be properly maintained and improved for ease and convenience now that the national government is responsible for allocating budget for their repair and maintenance. Mabilog also said the work of the national government will complement with the city’s projects towards better road conditions.
