Information, education, communication campaign and cleanup drive will go hand and hand in the grassroots to combat the spread of mosquitoes and deadly dengue in Iloilo City.

Mayor Jerry P. Treñas and City Council Committee on Health Chairman Councilor Alan Zaldivar have initiated the fight against dengue dubbed “Ugsaran Tinluan para Balatian Malikawan” (Clean surroundings to avoid sickness).

The awareness advocacy will be launched at Barangay Calumpang in Molo district on July 20 at 8a.m.
Zaldivar said a regular Oplan Linis or cleanup every Saturday should be implemented by 180 barangays.

“Dengue cases are very alarming. We need to augment existing best practices. We need to inform and educate our people on how to prevent it and prepare for it. This activity is a wake-up call of our responsibility. We want to empower constituents and it should start at home to address this health problem,” Zaldivar stressed.
