Iloilo City has once again earned national recognition after being named Top 4 Child-Friendly Highly Urbanized City in the Philippines during the 2025 Presidential Award for Child-Friendly Municipalities and Cities, held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.

The city received two major distinctions—Regional Winner and National Finalist—highlighting its sustained commitment to advancing the welfare, protection, and development of children through inclusive and child-centered governance.

Mayor Raisa Treñas, together with members of the Iloilo City Local Council for the Protection of Children, accepted the prestigious award on behalf of the city.

In a statement following the recognition, Mayor Treñas described the honor as “a win for every Ilonggo child.” She emphasized that the award reflects the city’s continuing efforts to protect and care for children, noting that these initiatives are producing real and meaningful impact on their lives.

“This prestigious recognition shows that our sustained efforts in protecting and nurturing our children are truly making a difference,” the mayor shared. She dedicated the award to Ilonggo families and stakeholders who consistently support programs for children, calling for continued unity in safeguarding their well-being and future.

The recognition also drew commendation from the Mayor for Good Governance, who praised Mayor Treñas for her leadership and the city’s strong institutional support for child-friendly policies, programs, and services.

The Presidential Award for Child-Friendly Municipalities and Cities, spearheaded by the Council for the Welfare of Children, honors local government units that uphold children’s rights and promote safe, healthy, and enabling environments for the youth.

With this latest accolade, Iloilo City further cements its reputation as a model urban center that places children at the heart of governance—ensuring that every Ilonggo child has the opportunity to grow, thrive, and succeed.
