Iloilo City to host PVL game

Philippine Volleyball League in Iloilo.

Iloilo City will host the out-of-town event of Premier Volleyball League (PVL) between Creamline Cool Smashers and BanKo Perlas Spikers at University of San Agustin gymnasium on June 15 at 4 p.m. Gates will open at 1 p.m.

“One of the reasons why Iloilo City was chosen as venue is because I think the PVL have seen the sports program of City Government and we have been bringing national athletes here since 2016,” organizer Rodolfo Villaruz said.

Volleyball stars such as Alyssa Valdez, Michelle Gumabao, Nicole Tiamzon and Ilongga Roma Doromal will be playing in the match, including two international imports in each team.

“When we were tapped for the said event, we did not hesitate to say yes because Iloilo City has been supportive with this kind of program. We are aligning our programs to develop and discover potential athletes to be the future of volleyball,” said Moises Salomon Jr., officer-in-charge of City Sports Development Division (CSDD).

Tickets are sold at P350 and P1,000 at CSDD, 5th floor of City Hall; Army Navy at Central Market in front of University of Iloilo; and Isuzu Iloilo at Diversion Road in Mandurriao district.

Villaruz said they are planning to make the general admission to the public for free. (Merianne Grace Ereneta/Iloilo City PIO)
