Iloilo City proudly welcomes 2026 with another major regional recognition, once again earning the ASEAN Clean Tourist City Award—a testament to the city’s unwavering commitment to clean, sustainable, and people-centered tourism.
With its previous recognition covering the 2020–2022 cycle, Iloilo City has proven that excellence in urban cleanliness and environmental stewardship is not a one-time achievement, but a continuing standard. This latest award reflects consistent efforts in maintaining orderly public spaces, responsible waste management, and inclusive community participation.
Actual validation and on-site inspection were conducted on July 25, 2025, led by the Department of Tourism Central Office – Office of Tourism Standards, ensuring that Iloilo met the rigorous criteria set for ASEAN cities that champion sustainability and tourism excellence.
Mayor Raisa Treñas lauded the achievement, emphasizing the collective effort behind the recognition.
“We did it again, Iloilo City! Proud gid kita nga once again ginkilala ang aton syudad as an ASEAN Clean Tourist City, reflecting our strong commitment to clean, sustainable, and people-centered tourism. Ang ini nga dungog para sa tanan nga Ilonggo, gani padayon kita sa pagbuligay sa pag-maintain sang kalimpyo, kaayuhan, kag katahum sang aton pinalangga nga syudad.”
The formal awarding rites will be held on January 30, 2026, in Cebu City, where Iloilo will join other outstanding cities across Southeast Asia recognized for upholding high standards in cleanliness and sustainable tourism.
More than an award, this recognition highlights the shared discipline, pride, and responsibility of Ilonggos—proving that a clean and beautiful city is built through unity between government and community.
