Iloilo Province starts barangay-based vaccination in Santa Barbara

Iloilo Province barangay vaccination in Sta. Barbara

The Iloilo provincial government is kicking off today, Sept. 8, 2021, its barangay-based vaccination in Barangay Balabag, Santa Barbara.

The province is now focusing its inoculation program in critical barangays to arrest the increase of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases.

Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. said barangays with high cases of COVID-19 will be prioritized and will be provided with more vaccines.

Barangay-based vaccination is advantageous as it will reduce people circulation and lessen the residents’ risk of being exposed to the virus, according to the governor.

The senior citizens, those with comorbidities and the A4 population will still be prioritized in the barangay vaccination.
Santa Barbara is the fourth town in the province with the highest number of COVID-19 cases totaling to 1,596. As of September 7, its active cases total to 327. (Capitol news | Photos by PHO head Dr. Maria Socorro C. Quiñon)
