Ilongga nurse in UK dies of COVID-19

UK Nurse Amor Padilla Gatinao died of COVID-19.

The healthcare community in the United Kingdom mourns the passing of a Filipino nurse who died due to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Amor Padilla-Gatinao, who was 50 years old, died as one of the medical frontliners against COVID-19 of the National Health Service (NHS) in UK.

Gatinao was a nurse at St. Charles Hospital, Ladbroke Grove in West London. She was a graduate of Central Philippine University Developmental High School (CPUDHS) Batch 1987 and finished her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree at West Visayas State University (WVSU) in 1991.

Gatinao was a resident of Barangay Arguelles in Jaro district and married to a native of Guimaras province. The Ilongga nurse migrated to the UK with her family.

In an interview over Bombo Radyo Iloilo, her brother Norman Padilla said that Gatinao contracted the dreaded disease in the hospital where she was working.

Her remains will be cremated in compliance with protocol on deceased COVID-19 patients.

In the latest report from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), there are already 634 Filipinos abroad infected with COVID-19. A total of 79 have already died, 383 still undergoing treatment, and 172 have recovered.
