Ilongga teacher is BSP awardee for GURO ng PAG-ASA

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas pays honor to an Ilongga teacher as one of the regional awardees of the GURO ng PAG-ASA (Gantimpala para sa Ulirang Pagtuturo ng Pag-iimpok at Araling PanSAlapi).

Mae Pangantihon of Sta. Barbara Elementary School of Sta. Barbara, Iloilo has been cited as area awardee for Visayas in the field of Social Studies. She will receive a cash prize of P50,000.

The GURO ng PAG-ASA was initiated by the BSP and the Department of Education (DepED) to recognize teachers who teach saving, money management and entrepreneurship to elementary students.

In their classes teachers integrate in their discussions lessons contained in the Teaching Guides on Financial Education for elementary students in three entry subjects to include Social Studies, Values Education and Home Economic & Entrepreneurship with emphasis on “Pagkamatipid,” “Pagkamasinop” and “Pag-iimpok.”

The giving of recognition will be held right at the Sta. Barbara Elementary School to be graced by BSP and DepEd officials in Iloilo.
