La Paz Maternity Hospital groundbreaks February 9

The P25-million La Paz Maternity and Reproductive Hospital will ground break on Feb. 9.

“This is our commitment to the less fortunate Ilonggos, to provide them with quality and affordable health care services,” Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog said.

The facility will undergo improvements in line with Mabilog’s “cradle to grave” health service program, particularly for the poor.

It will be upgraded and expanded as a basic emergency obstetrics and newborn care (BeMONC) facility.

It will accommodate 10-bed capacity for OB-Gyne patients and will also cater out-patients and consultations for adults and babies.

It offers free services including pre-natal, birthing, post-partum checkup, child immunization, ECG and post-natal consultations, among others.

The new hospital will usher in an era of more modern services as Mabilog is keen on expanding the range of medical assistance, modernizing equipment and adding more health personnel.

Mabilog has initiated and institutionalized a “Womb to Tomb Health Program for the Poor” including free pre-natal services, immunizations, child delivery in birthing centers, medical and dental services, circumcision, medical and ambulance service, provision of reading glasses, financial and laboratory assistance for the poor, care facility and medicine for the mentally-ill, and burial assistance including embalming, coffin, and funeral service.

The City Government has already enrolled some 65,000 indigent beneficiaries to avail of PhilHealth insurance benefits. (PNA)
