Mabilog: No classes, work in Iloilo City on November 7 and 8

Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog ordered the suspension of classes and work starting 3pm of November 7 until November 8 in the city due to typhoon Yolanda.

Citing Section 16 and Section 455 of the Local Government Code of 1991, Mabilog issued Executive Order No. 78 series of 2013 to declare no classes and work in public and private schools and offices.class work suspension iloilo

“Due to the impending landfall of super typhoon “Yolanda” as forecasted by PAGASA, it is imperative to prepare for this disaster to avoid loss of life and property among the residents of Iloilo City.

Mabilog also called the attention of barangay captains to prepare their residents in coastal barangays of Bitoon in Jaro district;Hinactacan, Banuyao and Ingore in La Paz district; Loboc and Bo. Obrero in Lapuz dfistrict;Gen. Hughes, Ortiz, Ma. Clara, Rizal Ibarra, Palapala 1, Palapala 2, and RizalEstazuela in the city proper; North Baluarte, South Baluarte, Boulevard, San Juan, Calumpang and Calaparan in Molo district; and Sto. Norte and Sto Nino Sur in Arevalo district.

Precautions are also enjoined to resident of barangays along the rivers and tributaries prone to flooding. These are barangays Ungka, Sambag, San Isidro, Tabuc Suba,Dungon B, Dungon A. Calubihan and Desamparados in Jaro district; Bakhaw andBolilao in Madurriao district; Magsaysay Village in La Paz district; and Calajunan,Sooc, and Navais in Mandurriao district.

In the latest weather bulletin of PAGASA, the entire province of Iloilo is under storm warning signal number 2.
