Magnitude 5.8 earthquake rocks Iloilo, rest of Western and Central Visayas

A magnitude 5.8 earthquake was felt in parts of Western and Central Visayas, including Iloilo City and nearby provinces on November 14, 2012.

In a bulletin issued by Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the epicenter of earthquake was located 26 km northwest of Cauayan, Negros Occidental. It has a depth of 10km and struck at around 1:21pm local time.

  • Intensity 5 – Binalbagan, Hinobaan & Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, Iloilo City
  • Intensity 4 – Sigma, Capiz; Alimodian, Bago City; Nueva Valencia, Guimaras; Pontevedra, Negros Occidental,
  • Intensity 3 – Dao, Capiz; Sipalay, Negros Occidental; Patnongon, San Jose, Culasi, Antique; Masbate; Lezo, Aklan
  • Intensity 2 – Canlaon City, Murcia, Negros Occidental; Dipolog City
