Mango eating for all at ‘Patilaw sa Manggahan’

More activities including booths slated until April 7.

About 50 kilos of Guimaras’ sweet mangoes were enjoyed by all during the second day of “Patilaw sa Manggahan”, a week-long activity hosted by the province of Guimaras at Robinsons Place Iloilo to give everyone a taste of the 2017 Manggahan Festival slated on May 11 to 22.

‘Mango eating is what we do.’

Those who ate the most mangoes won passes for the Mango Eat-All-You-Can Contests in Guimaras on May 11 and 15 to 22.

Hey, have you tried mango eating? Those who missed it can still join in the mango eating activities in Guimaras on May 11, and 15 to 22.

Mall spectators were also treated to a cooking demo by Rebecca Tubongbanua, owner of McNester Food Products, Inc. and Magsasaka Siyentista awardee. She shared how to cook Mango Spaghetti using McNester’s Mango Ketchup. After that, everyone got a taste of the flavourful finished product.

Watch out for more activities like Disco Derby Open Category Elimination on April 5 and Mutya ng Guimaras Fashion Show and Press Conference on April 7, all in Robinsons Place Iloilo.

Do not forget to buy from the booths, too. Several Guimaras producers are selling mangoes, dried mangoes, mango jams, mango and calamansi juices, cashew nuts, soya products, dried fish, tea made from herbs, mango wine, bugnay wine, potato chips, banana chips, butterscotch, and native bags, among others.

During the opening last April 1, Hon. Josefina dela Cruz, Sangguniang Bayan member invited everyone to come.

“We are bringing you a taste of Guimaras which is celebrating its 24th Manggahan Festival and 25th founding anniversary. The Manggahan Festival is open to everyone,” she said.
