MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) has been selected as one of the Philippine power industry leaders to participate in a Reverse Trade Mission (RTM) in the United States aimed at strengthening grid infrastructure and advancing energy modernization efforts.
The immersion program, organized by the United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), gathers key stakeholders from the Philippine energy sector, including officials from the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), along with selected distribution utilities such as MORE Power.
The initiative seeks to expose Philippine participants to advanced U.S. practices in power generation and distribution, including the use of artificial intelligence and smart grid technologies that could help improve energy security and efficiency back home.
According to USTDA, electricity demand in the Philippines is projected to double by 2040, making significant investments in smart grid infrastructure crucial. The program aims to foster partnerships between U.S. firms and Philippine utilities and regulators to modernize, digitalize, and strengthen power systems across generation, transmission, and distribution networks.
The mission runs from February 1 to 11, with delegates scheduled to visit major American power companies in San Diego, Silicon Valley, and Washington, D.C. Participants will also attend the DTECH conference and tour the Stanford Central Energy Facility to observe cutting-edge energy solutions.
Technologies highlighted during the mission include Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), cybersecurity and AI applications, data center energy solutions, distribution automation, energy stability systems, hyperscale energy corridors, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
MORE Power’s participation underscores Iloilo’s growing role in energy modernization efforts and reflects the company’s continuing push to adopt global best practices to enhance power services for consumers in its franchise areas.
