PRC introduces new ID for professionals

New PRC license card or ID

Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) made some changes on the identification card of professionals effective September 2019.

PRC announced Monday that the licensed professionals who registered or applied for renewal starting September will be issued a new Professional Identification Card or PIC. The new ID bears a new format, layout, and content.

In the new license card, important personal and registration information are still there but PRC removed the birth date and date of last renewal previously posted on the front face of the ID.

Here’s the look of the new PRC ID, in front and back:

The agency said that the change is in consonance with the policy of government to promote ease of doing business by simplifying the documentary forms and processes which include the PIC, and in compliance with the requirements of Republic Act No. 10173, the Data Privacy Act of 2012.

Data Privacy Act protects individuals from unauthorized processing of personal information that is (1) private, not publicly available; and (2) identifiable, where the identity of the individual is apparent either through direct attribution or when put together with other available information.

Among other provisions, the law ensures that personal information must be handled properly, used only for the stated purposes, and retained only for as long as reasonably needed. (via PRC, Amihan.net)
