SM City Iloilo opens Art Sale featuring works of Ilonggo artists

Advocating art for all, SM City Iloilo opens the biggest art sale in this part of the region March 20, 2018 at the Northpoint.

This is the second art sale organized by the mall in partnership with the Himbon art group, which gathers both veteran and upcoming artists offering their artworks for art lovers to afford even for this limited time only.

While it is a common concept that art is expensive and can only be afforded by the upper class, the Art Sale aims to bring art closer to the community. The exhibit which will run until April 1, will showcase works of known Ilonggo artists as well as upcoming and contemporary ones.

Their works, as any piece of art known to be usually pricey, will be available at P5,000 and below just for the said duration. These are not cheap stakes as these are expectedly regularly priced much more costly at the individual artists’ regular exhibitions.

Outstanding works of Ilonggo master Ed Defensor as well as the marble pieces of Harry Mark Gonzales are just one of the showcases of the exhibit. Jeanroll Ejar’s unequalled wood carvings and Mia Reyes’ strokes of the Panay Bukidnon woman are also up for grabs.

Vic Fario’s unique strokes and Gina Apostol’s distinct style are also on display as a rare find for art lovers. Marzz Capanang and Alan Cabalfin’s works could not be more elegant and exceptional as it will be available, giving art lovers a chance to possess one. Kris Brasileño, Alex Ordoyo and Kat Malazarte’s diverse flairs are a sight to behold and own.

Exceptional works of Norman Acedera, Dodjie Tan, Anthony Fermin, Carlo Arevalo, El Dosado, James Mark Salarda, Jeffrey Gunlao, Joey Isturis, Roman Sanares, and Tyrone Dave Esponosa are also on display.
Art lovers and enthusiasts can also avail of works of young and other contemporary artists when they visit SM City Iloilo Northpoint near the Ace Hardware area and see for themselves the array of Ilonggo arts in various mediums.

As can be recalled, SM City Iloilo launched The My City , My SM, My Art January of 2017 to honor Ilonggo master artist Ed Defensor along with the other recognized and respected artists. The aim of the project is to bring people and art together and is in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts(NCCA), The Philippine Star, Centerstage Productions and the Metropolitan Museum of Manila.

Ilonggos can expect more of art exhibits and projects that support the local art community in the city and province of Iloilo as well as the Western Visayan region.
