TMC Iloilo highlights Nurses’ Week with grand activities

The Medical City (TMC) Iloilo is highlighting the 64th Philippine Nurses’ Week celebration with grand activities on October 25-29.

Bearing the theme “Nurses: A Voice to Lead – A vision for Future Healthcare”, this year’s celebration calls to recognize the experiences of the nurses during this pandemic to serve as learning on how nursing is taught and practiced in the future, as well as its role in shaping the quality of healthcare delivery after this pandemic.

To give tribute to its brave and kind nurses, TMC Iloilo, prepared week-long activities that also highlight the talents and values of its patient partners.

TMC Iloilo’s 64th Philippine Nurses’ Week will debut on October 25 with an Opening Ceremony which will be highlighted with the ribbon-cutting of the “Gallery of Arts”, a painting contest that showcases the works of TMC Iloilo nurses.

The second day of the celebration on October 26 will be highlighted with a webinar about Nutrition Medicine by TMC Iloilo Nutrition Management Services Head Dr. Bambi Tupas, and a Spoken Word Poetry Contest entitled, “Hugot ng mga Nars”.

A bloodletting activity in partnership with Philippine National Red Cross – Western Visayas Regional Blood Center (PNRC-WVRBC) and a Mobile Legends Tournament will be the highlights of the third day on October 27, while a Nurses’ Quiz Bee Challenge will be held on October 28.

TMC Iloilo National Nurses’ Week 2021 celebration will be capped on October 29 with a Dance Contest called “MTV Clash Dance”, renewal of Nurses’ Pledge and Candle Lighting, and the Awarding Ceremony wherein the Continental Queen 2021, TMC Iloilo Nurses’ Awards, and the DAISY Awards will be held.

The DAISY Award is an award given to nurses in recognition of their excellent clinical skills and compassion for their patients. This international award partners with various healthcare facilities and schools to identify deserving awardees. In Western Visayas, only TMC Iloilo was granted to give the DAISY Award.

Aside from these activities, TMC Iloilo will be also giving out branded backpacks as the institution’s way of saying thank you to the commitment and efforts of the nurses.

“We, in TMC Iloilo truly understand the struggles of our healthcare workers, especially of our nurses during this time of the pandemic. The past few months have revealed that with that our nurses truly embody the values of our institution as they have shown bravery and kindness while fulfilling our service philosophy of patient partnership”, TMC Iloilo Chief Executive Officer Dr. Felix Ray Villa noted.

On her part, TMC Iloilo Chief of Nursing Services Aliver Vagilidad expresses her gratitude to the companies and individuals who extended assistance to make the celebration possible.

“We are very thankful to everyone who made this year’s celebration of National Nurses’ Week grand, especially to our sponsors and donors who donated resources and services as their way of giving back to the men and women who commit themselves amidst the challenges of this pandemic,” she concluded.
