Treñas puts back liquor ban 1 day after lifting it

Mayor Jerry Treñas reimposes liquor ban in Iloilo City.

After so many reported violations of curfew and other laws, Iloilo City will be bringing back the ban on the sale and consumption of alcoholic drinks a day after lifting it.

UPDATED: Executive Order No. 066-A posted below.

In a Facebook post, Mayor Jerry T. Treñas said that he will issue an order on Wednesday morning reimposing the liquor ban. Here’s the full post:

“In view of the various incidents due to intoxicated persons and in view of the many other important activities undertaken by our security personnel and upon the advice coming from various sectors I am reimposing the ban on the sale of alcoholic drinks effective immediately until further notice. The PNP and PSTMO are hereby authorized to immediately make sure that this ban is effectively complied with. The executive order will be issued this morning. For immediate compliance.”

Treñas lifted the ban on sale and consumption of alcoholic drinks on Tuesday via Executive Order No. 66, series of 2020. He said that it is one of the initial steps on gradual easing of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) restrictions.

The City Government is looking to lift the ECQ, which was put into place as part of measures against the spread of COVID-19, starting May 1.
