Typhoon Pablo spares Iloilo, WV

Typhoon Pablo left Iloilo and Western Visayas without so much damage to properties and lives as monitored by the WV Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (DRRMC) headed by Dir. Rosario T. Cabrera based in Iloilo city.

The typhoon was monitored by Philippine Atmospheric and Geophysical Services Administration (PAGASA) to be on the southwest of Iloilo city at 10 o’clock Tuesday night but only caused strong winds with intermittent rains.

With ‘Pablo’ now heading towards Southwest of Coron, Palawan and not causing much damage to Iloilo City and the rest of WV, those who have evacuated as preemptive measure are now heading back to their homes.

The WV-DRRMC reported that from Monday morning until Tuesday night before 10:00 p.m., a total of 629 families and 2,783 persons who were on the evacuation centers in Miag-ao and Tigbauan towns of Iloilo province; Iloilo City; Buenavista, Jordan, Sibunag of Guimaras province; and in Negros Occidental.

“The evacuees as of today (Wednesday) are now back to their homes,” Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor said. (PNA)
