Iloilo City has another patient who tested positive for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total to seven in the metropolis.

“This is an imported case,” said Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas during a press conference in City Hall on Wednesday.

Treñas said that the patient is an Ilonggo in Manila who came home last weekend. The person was allowed to return to the city because her mother has died. Upon arriving in Iloilo, the patient was tested and results were positive for COVID-19, both in rapid test and in PCR (reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction).

“I am saddened with the fact that Iloilo City has recorded its seventh case of COVID-19 from La Paz today.

“The said patient arrived in Iloilo City over the weekend via commercial flight from Metro Manila. This person is asymptomatic and under home quarantine.

“With this new case that we have, we are being reminded to be extra careful.”
