Five years of powering progress and transforming Iloilo City’s energy landscape were celebrated by MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) through the launch of its commemorative coffee table book, “Illuminating Iloilo: MORE Power’s Grounding Milestones,” and the ceremonial groundbreaking of the future MORE Power Tower on June 2 at the Grand Ballroom of Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo.
The coffee table book chronicles the company’s journey since taking over Iloilo City’s power distribution system in 2020, highlighting key milestones that helped modernize and strengthen the city’s electricity network.
Featured in the publication are major infrastructure investments, including the construction of new substations, the deployment of advanced technologies such as Automatic Circuit Reclosers (ACRs), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, and a state-of-the-art command center equipped with advanced distribution management systems. These innovations significantly improved the reliability, efficiency, and resiliency of power service in Iloilo City.

Beyond power distribution, the book also showcases MORE Power’s partnerships with the Iloilo City Government and various stakeholders in initiatives that contribute to sustainable urban development. These include underground cabling projects, mangrove planting activities, fingerling releases in the Iloilo River, and the illumination of heritage sites and landmarks across the city.
Leading the event were MORE Power Chairman Stephen George Paradies and President and CEO Roel Castro, who reflected on the company’s accomplishments and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Iloilo City’s continued growth.
A highlight of the celebration was the ceremonial groundbreaking of the MORE Power Tower, a future landmark that symbolizes the company’s long-term commitment to Iloilo and its vision of delivering innovative and reliable energy solutions for generations to come.

The event was attended by key government leaders, including Iloilo Governor Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr., Iloilo City Representative Janet Julienne “Jam Jam” Baronda, 2nd District Representative Kathryn Joyce “Kathy” Gorriceta, Iloilo City Mayor Raisa Treñas, and USWAG Ilonggo Rep. James “Jojo” Ang, who all expressed their appreciation for MORE Power’s contributions to Iloilo’s development.
In their messages, the officials recognized the company’s role in modernizing the city’s power infrastructure, strengthening investor confidence, and helping create an environment conducive to economic growth.
DOE Secretary Sharon Garin and ERC Chair Francis Juan also expressed their support through video messages.
From overcoming the challenges of an aging power system to becoming a key partner in Iloilo City’s transformation, MORE Power’s first five years have been marked by innovation, collaboration, and a commitment to service.

As captured in “Illuminating Iloilo: MORE Power’s Grounding Milestones,” the story of MORE Power is not only about electricity—it is about building the foundations of a stronger, brighter, and more progressive Iloilo City.
