Honest SM Foodhall attendant returns cash, IDs

It is said that honesty contributes not only to one’s own good but most especially to the common good, with that authentic concern for the well-being of others.

We have heard various stories of honesty, and witnessing tales of workers returning items they found in the performance of their duties makes it a little more special. With the physical demands of their tasks and their personal struggles, honesty prevails.

Such is the case of Mr. Jerson Ibaco of SJS Manpower, working at the Foodhall of SM City Iloilo. On the night of April 26, 2022 past 8 in the evening, Mr. Ibaco found a grey sling bag left by a customer in one of the chairs in the dining area.

Jerson did not waste time as he immediately referred to the Customer Relations Services Department office of the mall for the item’s safekeeping. It was found out that the bag contained assorted cards, a total of 17 valid IDs, and cash worth P94,901.

Someone later went to the CRS office to claim the bag and after verification, the bag was returned to the rightful owner.

Mr. Ibaco was given commendation by the mall for his honesty and his dedication to his job, for his priceless gesture of honesty worthy of emulation.
