The Iloilo City Government’s localized Medical Assistance Program (MAP), known as HAPLOS (Health Assistance sa Pumuluyo, Laboratory kag Ospital Serbis), has provided medical assistance to 351 Ilonggo beneficiaries since its launch, with a total of ₱7.5 million in assistance released to date.
HAPLOS, a flagship program of Mayor Raisa S. Treñas’ administration, was developed by the city government to make medical and hospital assistance more accessible to Ilonggos in need by partnering with 10 hospitals in the city.
Mayor Raisa emphasized the importance of having a program that gives Ilonggos a place to turn to when they need medical help.
“Ang aton nga HAPLOS Program dako gid nga bulig kay nag-partner kita sa pulo ka mga hospitals diri sa syudad. Kung sin-o may nagakinahanglan, ang mga Ilonggo indi na magproblema kay may ara sila dalaganan,” Mayor Raisa said during the Iloilo City Government’s radio program Your City At Work.
The mayor said the program was designed to ensure that residents will at least have an opportunity to seek medical treatment, rather than being forced to give up because of financial difficulties.
She recalled a recent encounter with a resident who sought burial assistance after losing her mother to breast cancer. When asked why the family had not sought treatment earlier, the resident replied that they did not have the money.
“Indi na ko gusto makabati sina. At least man lang, nag-try. With this program, nagapati gid ako nga ang mga Ilonggo may dalaganan na kamo kag, with this, at least nag-try kita,” she said.
“Indi na ko gusto makabati pa sang sad story nga waay gid kamo nag-try. Ini nga programa gindihon ko gid para sa inyo, nga may dalaganan gid kamo kag accessible para sa tanan,” she added.
With 351 beneficiaries already served and ₱7.5 million in assistance released, HAPLOS continues to strengthen the city government’s commitment to making healthcare assistance more accessible to Ilonggos in need. (Iloilo City PIO)
