Dakasi reopens in Iloilo

Controversial Dakasi milk tea shop in Iloilo City has reopened to public, over a month after it ceased operations due to food poisoning complaints.

Iloilo City Health Office has ordered the closure of Dakasi Iloilo in Smallville Complex last September 27 on reports that a customer Jason Chang died and 57 others were hospitalized after drinking milk tea with egg pudding at a restaurant.

Dakasi Philippines issued the following statement on its reopening in Iloilo:

Dakasi Iloilo has fallen under some controversy the past few weeks. But silently we have been doing our part to clear the store’s name. As a company with a strong standing commitment to quality and safety, we have done our part to comply with all government rules and regulations to be able to continue our operations.

We would like to thank our wonderful customers who have never lost faith in Dakasi and assure everyone that we are unwavering in our commitment to give the best quality milk tea products in the market. Thank you!

Again, thank you for your support and continued patronage.

The reopening was met with negative reactions from Ilonggos in social media. Blogger Antoine Greg has this to say in Cafe Ilonggo:
Bisan pa managtag UNLI MILKTEA ang #Dakasi bwas sa re-opening nila, I discourage everyone sa pag-patronize sa ila kay wla pa nila ma settle ila obligations sa ila victims. Gin hambalan ang mga victims nga kun magpasaka sila kaso pwede gd kay may mga evidence against them kag wla sila plano nga bisan mag hold discussion sa mga na hospital.
