Dr. Quiñon wins National Outstanding Provincial Nutrition Action Officer

Iloilo Provincial Health Officer Dr. Maria Javellana Colmenares-Quinon was awarded National Outstanding Provincial Nutrition Action Officer by the National Nutrition Council

Iloilo Provincial Health Officer Dr. Maria Javellana Colmenares-Quinon was awarded National Outstanding Provincial Nutrition Action Officer by the National Nutrition Council on Monday, March 20 during the National Nutrition Awarding Ceremony held at The Manila Hotel. She bested four other finalists all over the country.

The award was received by Dr. Quinon herself, together with Iloilo Gov. Arthur Toto Defensor, Board Member Val Serag and Regional Nutrition Program Coordination Mr. Regie Guillen.

The awarding ceremony was likewise joined by Iloilo Provincial Nutrition Council Members: PHO I Dr. Wendel Tupas Marcelo, Provincial Agriculturist Dr. Ildefonso Toledo, RTMDH Chief Dr. Ronnel Quinon, PPO Acting PGDH Von Superio, Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Luz QueenAnt de los Reyes, and Provincial Nutrition Program Coordinator Ms. Leni D Causing.

The award was conferred by Civil Service Commission Chairman Atty. Karlo Nograles, DOH Asec. and NNC Executive Director Azucena Dayanghirang and DOH Acting Secretary Maria Rosario Vergeire.

During her stint as Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Quinon was exposed to handling nutrition programs in the Province and likewise on health emergency management and surveillance as the Province’s medical coordinator.

With the full support of the hardworking governor, Hon. Arthur R. Defensor, Jr, especially during the height of pandemic, the Provincial Nutrition Committee under the tutelage of Dr. Quinon, was able to perform efficiently and effectively.

Boasting with confidence and wit, Dr. Quiñon has proven that she is indeed an outstanding Provincial Nutrition Action Officer nationwide. Her desire to leave “footprints” and be remembered for significant difference she made as Provincial Health Officer of the Iloilo Province, has certainly come to a fruition as she showed commitment, excellence and dedication to her work.

Aside from the medal, Dr. Quinon received a cash incentive of seventy thousand pesos. (via Balita Halin sa Kapitolyo)
