DSWD-6 disburses P20.7M educational assistance in Western Visayas

The Department Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Regional Office 6 has released a total of P20.7 million in educational assistance for students in crisis in Western Visayas as of 8pm, Saturday, August 20, 2022. The amount was received by 5,144 beneficiaries.

Of the amount, 719 clients were served in Aklan with P2,671,000 released; Antique, 613 beneficiaries with P2,263,000; Capiz, 957 clients were served with P4,700,000; Guimaras, 555 clients with P1,173,000; Iloilo, 1,713 clients with P7,750,000; and Negros Occidental, 587 clients with P2,203,000.

“Ang educational assistance bulig para sa mga estudyante nga yara sa krisis para mabuligan sa ila nga mga galastuhan sa ila pag-eskwela subong sang school supplies, school projects, allowance kag iban pa nga mga galamiton,” said OIC Regional Director Delia Villa-Bagolcol.

This, as the DSWD continues in setting up better system to ensure orderly and smooth payout in the succeeding schedules set on August 27, September 3, 10, 17 and 24. One option being eyed is tapping partners at the Local Government Units.

Also, emails to extension offices and messages sent to designated mobile phone numbers earlier disseminated will be catered to schedule the assessment of clients.

“Ang mga kwalipikado nga benepisyaryo mga: breadwinners, biskan indi sila head of the family; ukon working students; ukon orphaned, abandoned kag ukon naga-istar kaupod sa ila mga himata; kabataan sang solo parents; ukon ang ginikanan wala trabaho ukon Overseas Filipinos; ukon Persons with Disability nga yara sa krisis nga sitwasyon, kabataan sang rebel returnees; ukon mga persons deprived of liberty, kabataan nga may ara HIV ukon naga-istar upod ang ginikanan nga may HIV; biktima sang pang abuso ukon displacement; ukon yara sa krisis tungod sa human-induced ukon natural calamities,” added Villa-Bagolcol.
