Iloilo City Government’s significant boost in its thrust to provide homes to Informal Settler Families (ISFs) got some 10,000 housing units.

This, after Iloilo City has been selected as one of the first cities in the country to avail of “Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino: Zero ISF Program for 2028” or 4PH Program of Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development’s (DHSUD).

A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed by DHSUD Undersecretary Samuel Young; Mayor Jerry Treñas; Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon; DHSUD OIC Regional Director EnP Eva Maria Marfil; Pag-IBIG OIC VP for Visayas and Mindanao Engr. Noli Armada; Uswag Ilonggo party-list Rep. Jojo Ang; and Iloilo City Urban Poor Affairs Office (ICUPAO) head Roy Firmeza Feb. 28.

“Together with DHSUD, we will have a total of 15,000 housing units for informal settlers, as this has been the dream of the City Government to have decent housing project for the Ilonggos,” stressed Mayor Jerry Treñas.

He added City Hall has been landbanking a total of 13-hectare land out of the P200-M loan with Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).

The project aims to give ISFs the right to live with dignity and to sustain affordable housing.
The initiative also seeks to fulfill the housing backlogs by 2028.

City Government, DHSUD, and PAG-IBIG committed to build more housing units and offer support and assistance to implement the housing loan program for the city’s target beneficiaries.(Alexandra Jover/Iloilo City PIO)
