Iloilo City gets spot in International Training Program in Disaster Risk Management

Disaster Risk Management International Training for Iloilo City

Iloilo City Government congratulates Lester Mark Carnaje of Public Information Office (PIO), and Fhannie Laine Abella and Sharry Ledesma of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) for having been selected to participate in Cycle 5 of the International Training Program in Disaster Risk Management (ITP-DRM) of the Swedish Civil Contingencies (MSB).

They will pursue a joint change initiative on Building a Culture of Innovation in Learning and Development in Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation (DRR-CCA).

They have undergone a rigorous screening process and will now join a select group of participants from other Southeast Asian countries.
The programme targets DRM stakeholders involved in change processes at various levels. It aims to strengthen the capacity of individuals and their organizations to manage disaster risks. Upon completion, participating organizations will have individuals with strengthened capacities to lead organizational change for enhanced DRM performance.

The city already has two alumni in the ITP-DRM: CDRRMO head Donna Magno during Cycle 2 in 2020; and PIO chief Lucy Sinay during Cycle 3 in 2021.
