The four-storey Uswag Low-Rise Residential Building has been fast-tracked to provide housing to eligible Iloilo City Hall employees.
The 120-unit condo will have a floor area of 30-sqm in two twin buildings undergoing construction on a 2,741-sqm, a portion of 16.2-hectare Uswag Subdivision owned by the City Government.
As of June, some 109 regular employees have been qualified to benefit as recorded by the Iloilo City Urban Poor Affairs Office (ICUPAO).
“The field inspection conducted by ICUPAO technical team in coordination with the builder reported about 60% completion, and envisioned for total completion six months ahead than scheduled,” ICUPAO head Rony Firmeza stressed.
Started in March 2022, it is expected to be completed and turned over in May 2024.
The intended recipients are those Salary Grade 8 and below with at least five years of working in City Hall as of December 31, 2021, including services rendered as job hire.
This is a 15% Housing Balance Compliance Project of SM Development Corporation (SMDC) which the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) has approved its implementation to reduce the city’s backlogs in housing.
The program is formulated by the Technical Working Group composed of ICUPAO, City Legal Office, City Treasurer’s Office, City Budget Office, City Assessor’s Office, City Engineer’s Office, City Planning and Development Office, and General Services Office. (Alexandra Jover/Iloilo City PIO)
