Mabilog recalls business permit of Dakasi Iloilo

City mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog has ordered the revocation of the Mayor’s Permit No.2013-0007697 dated April 1, 2013 granted to Teastars Food Corp., operator of Dakasi teahouse and food restaurant located at the Iloilo Ayala Technohub in Mandurriao.

Executive Order 97 Series of 2013 issued by Mabilog showed that customers of the teahouse complained of stomach ache and some were confined at the different hospitals after eating and drinking food served at Dakasi.

The city government conducted its own probe and investigation and issued a temporary cessation of operation pending laboratory results of food samples taken by the Department of Health.

The laboratory results issued by the Food and Drug Administration based in Manila on food samples showed presence of mold and yeast on the coconut jelly, coliform, molds and yeast on the black tea, SP/AOC on thetapioca, salmonella and ecoli in the egg pudding, as well as molds and yeast on the sugar used.

Mabilog said he could not gamble on the health and well being of the people in the city patronizing the said teahouse and restaurant. Dakasi will have to show its sincerity in the cleanliness of its food served and if the restaurant can get a BFAD certification again on its clean food, the city government can immediately issue its business permit again, the city mayor said.
