In celebration of World Environment Day on June 5, 2025, MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) joined the Iloilo City Government’s city-wide simultaneous tree-planting activity held at Iloilo Sunset Boulevard.
Demonstrating its strong commitment to sustainability, MORE Power mobilized its dedicated team of eco-volunteers to help plant nearly 500 native tree seedlings, alongside various civic groups and environmental organizations.
This year’s tree-planting initiative was held in collaboration with Project TRANSFORM, a flagship environmental program of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). The theme, “Iloilo City Transforms: Tackling Climate Extremes, Disaster Risks, and Plastic Pollution Through Urban Greening,” underscores the urgency of climate action through community-based environmental solutions.
MORE Power President and CEO Roel Castro expressed support for the activity, stating that it reflects the company’s core values:
“Environmental protection and sustainability are woven into our mission as a utility provider. Through consistent and meaningful participation in activities like this, we reaffirm our dedication to a greener, more climate-resilient Iloilo.”
Engineer Neil Ravena of the Iloilo City Government also acknowledged MORE Power’s vital role:
“MORE Power has always been a reliable partner in our programs and projects. Their support in this World Environment Day activity—planting trees with our stakeholders—is crucial as we combat the growing threats of climate change and rising heat index. We deeply appreciate their continued involvement and look forward to more collaborations in the future.”
Since the start of its operations in Iloilo, MORE Power has actively pursued various environmental efforts, including mangrove reforestation, tree planting, coastal clean-ups, and donation of Dita seedlings to the local government. These initiatives reflect the company’s long-term commitment to environmental stewardship and the welfare of the Ilonggo community.
