OWWA gives P3.7-M calamity assistance to 1,234 OFWs and dependents in Region 6

OWWA Calamity Assistance to OFWs and dependents.

In line with the Welfare Assistance Program (WAP) of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, a total of Php3,702,000.00 was released to 1,234 OFWs and their dependents in Region VI. The assistance is given to those families who were affected by Typhoon Ursula that hit Western Visayas last December 25, 2019.

An amount of Php3,000.00 is given to active OFWs residing in areas declared under State of Calamity.

Last January 23, 2020, OWWA Regional Welfare Office VI started releasing its financial assistance. As of February 10, 2020, a total of 1,234 availees have already received the welfare cash assistance. The regional office is accepting application of the qualified availees until March 25, 2020.

Welfare Assistance Program (WAP) is a financial assistance to active OWWA members who are affected by the occurrence of disasters/calamities, natural or man-made, untimely tragic death of the OFWs, and other related causes.

The calamity assistance is in accordance with OWWA’s vision to serve the interest and welfare of OFWs and their families through the Welfare Assistance Program. (Press Release by OWWA-6)
