Unboxing realme C55: The Stylish Champion

realme C55, The Stylish Champion

realme, the country’s top smartphone brand for 2 years, once again looks to disrupt the entry-level market with its newest offering: realme C55, dubbed as The Stylish Champion!

The brand sent me a demo unit of realme C55 in 8GB/256GB variant and in Rainy Night colorway, so here’s my unboxing and first impression of this new phone.

realme C55 (RMX3710) is the first globally mass-produced Android smartphone to feature the Mini Capsule, an animation in the punch-hole cutout of the selfie camera which provides information on Charging and Battery Status, Data Cap Usage as well as Step Tracking.

The package comes in the brand’s signature yellow box showing the phone model and branding up front and on its sides. The back portion shows the specifications of realme C55: 64MP AI Camera, 5000mAh Massive Battery, 6.72″ 90Hz FHD+ Display, 33W SUPERVOOC Charge, 7.89mm Ultra Slim, and MediaTek Helio G88 Chipset.

Also indicated in the label that it’s on Rainy Night colorway with 8GB RAM and 256GB Storage and its network connectivity specifications.

According to realme, the C55 will also be available in 6GB+128GB variant and in Sunshower and Rainforest colorways.

What’s inside the box?

The retail box contains the standard accessories: realme C55 phone with screen protect film already installed, 33W SUPERVOOC Charging Adapter, type A to type C USB data cable, warranty card and quick guides, SIM ejector pin, and protective jelly case. Just like most of the phones nowadays, it doesn’t come with headset anymore.

Design and Display

Holding and handling the realme C55 is easy and comfortable as it features a squared off, boxier design with flat aluminum sides. It is very slim, in fact, it is the thinnest C-Series phone up to date with a 7.89mm Ultra Slim Design.

In its rear, the Rainy Night panel made of plastic is classy and elegant with its shiny matte finish that I like because it does not catch fingerprint smudges. On top right there’s a are two large rings which house the dual-camera setup of 64MP AI primary camera and a 2MP depth sensor. Down below is the realme branding.

On the right side of the flat frame you can find the volume rocker and the power button doubling as fingerprint sensor. On the left side is the SIM tray which can accommodate two nano-SIMs and an micro SD slot for expandable storage of up to 1 terabyte; at the bottom side there’s a 3.5mm audio jack, holes for microphone, USB type-C, and the speaker grill. There’s nothing on the top side of the frame.

The realme C55 boasts a large 6.7-inch LCD screen with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, offering crisp and vibrant visuals for an immersive viewing experience. It is the largest display on a realme C-Series, plus it offers a 90Hz refresh rate, also a first in the C-Series lineup. The front 8MP camera sensor is on center cutout, which expands into a Mini Capsule feature which I already mentioned at the outset.

Its top and side bezels are thin with a little of bit thickness in the chin, as usually seen in phones on this segment.

Internals

The realme C55 is powered by a MediaTek Helio G88 processor, which provides smooth and efficient performance for everyday tasks and a little gaming. As I’ve said, my demo unit is 8GB RAM + 256GB internal storage (expandable to 1TB via micro SD), but it is also available in 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage option.

It runs on realme UI 4.0 based on Android 13 out of the box. The RAM Expansion Technology and a Dynamic Ram Expansion (DRE) is also available, giving you up to 16GB total usable RAM.

Battery and 33W SUPERVOOC Charging

Supervooc charging

It’s great that realme C55 is equipped with an industry-standard large battery at 5000mAh with 33W SUPERVOOC Charging capabilities which enables realme C55 to be charged up to 50% in just 29 minutes, and to 100% in just 63 minutes!

Impression

Once again, realme nailed it when it comes to the design and build quality of the realme C55! It does look premium for an entry-level phone with its flat sides, boxier build, ultra-slim body, and Rainy Night matte finish which I really like as it does not capture fingerprints. realme C55 definitely has the stunning design for a budget phone!

Stunning design of realme C55 in Rainy Night!

I’d like to mention though that it’s a little bit of a challenge for me to handle in one hand with its large screen.

One of it’s great come-on too is the large battery of 5000mAh and 33W SUPERVOOC charging which allows all-day usage, and quick and efficient charging seldom offered in the entry-level segment.
